06 February 2024 - ITU SEED on Media

More than 25 innovative startups operating within ITU Çekirdek, the 360-degree incubation center of ITU ARI Teknokent, have been meeting the shelter, health and psychological support needs of the region since the earthquake disaster on February 6 last year. The startups, which coordinated after the earthquake and started to offer their solutions in a short time, supported thousands of people in a one-year period.

ITU ARI Teknokent, one of Turkey's leading technopolis, which met the needs of the region with the Disaster Relief Campaign launched after the February 6 earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and many companies within its structure, continues its support with technology-oriented ITU Çekirdek initiatives. Thanks to more than 25 technological initiatives that have integrated their technologies into earthquake zones and developed new technologies since the first day of the earthquake, the initiatives that meet the needs of earthquake victims for heating, shelter, health and psychological support after the disaster continue their social responsibilities with applications that can be used online and mobile.

ITU ARI Teknokent calls for support to 11 technocities in the earthquake zone

ITU ARI Teknokent General Manager Prof. Dr. Attila Dikbaş stated that our country, which is located in an earthquake zone, should take more serious steps in terms of measures to be taken against earthquakes after what happened on February 6. "After the Kahramanmaraş-based earthquake disaster last year, we had a great responsibility to support our citizens in many areas of need, especially rescue work. We were able to do this not only as ITU ARI Teknokent, but also thanks to more than 25 startups from ITU Core. The startups within ITU Core coordinated very quickly and voluntarily launched support projects and campaigns. At the same time, we continue to support BIM (building information modeling) and earthquake-resistant cities and settlements with many of our startups and strengthen R&D projects in this field. Another issue that should not be forgotten is that 11 technocities are located in the regions affected by the earthquake. We are ready to do our best to realize joint projects by providing the necessary support and coordination for the development of the region. Like many other institutions, technopolises, which are technology hubs, have important duties to prevent the same sufferings from happening again."
